Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election for 2025 will be held on September 9, the Chief Returning Officer announced on Tuesday.
Chief Returning Officer Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter at a press conference held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building at 4:00pm.
Earlier, on July 20, the university administration had announced that the official election schedule would be released on July 29, with voting likely in the second week of September. The schedule was officially announced as planned on July 29.
This year DUCSU election will he held in a significant change, the centres have been moved from residential halls to six neutral venues, marking the first time that voting will be held outside the halls.
According to the schedule, students of Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, Amar Ekushey Hall, and Fazlul Huq Hall will cast their votes at the Curzon Hall examination centre.
Jagannath Hall, Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall, and Salimullah Muslim Hall students will vote at the Physical Education Centre.
Female students from Rokeya Hall, Shamsun Nahar Hall, and Poet Sufia Kamal Hall will vote at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC).
Voters from Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall and Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall will exercise their rights at the Dhaka University Club centre.
Students of Sir AF Rahman Hall, Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall, and Bijoy Ekattor Hall will vote at the Senate Building centre (Alumni Floor, Seminar Room, and Dining Room).
Meanwhile, polling for Surya Sen Hall, Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, and Poet Jasim Uddin Hall will be conducted at the Udayan School and College centre.
The DUCSU election, a major event in the university’s political landscape, is being held with expectations of wide participation and improved transparency due to the new venue arrangements.
